WHY I DO WHAT I DO...
Some people think criminal defense is a difficult and a morally reprehensible job.  I regularly
get the question, “
what do you do when you know your client is guilty?”

The truth is, I give no thought to innocence or guilt; it is simply irrelevant.  I am proud to
have the privilege of representing every client regardless of their guilt or innocence.  I give
every client
one hundred and ten percent of my knowledge and ability because each one
deserves that.  I believe I am defending justice by defending individuals.

Thomas Jefferson believed that a trial by jury is the anchor of all our liberties.  It is
imperative that every defendant receives the protections they deserve under the
Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New York.  These
protections include the right to self-defense, the right to be free from unreasonable search
and seizure, the right against self-incrimination, the right to be represented by a lawyer,
the right to confront witnesses, the right to a fair trial and many others.

Every time I walk into a courtroom,
I am not only defending a human being accused of a
crime, I am defending a legal system
that guarantees every defendant the presumption
of innocence and equal protection under the law to every defendant.  The moment the
prosecution is allowed to prove a crime by less than “beyond a reasonable doubt,” the
required burden of proof lessens against all of us.  The moment the rights of an accused
person are diminished, our rights, and those of our children, are diminished too.

My job is simply this,
to make the prosecution prove their case beyond a reasonable
doubt every time, and without violating any of the rights that each and every one of us is
afforded as an American citizen and as a resident of the State of New York.

I am proud to represent all clients regardless of their economic status, education, sex, race,
religion, guilt, innocence or the crime they are charged with.  Every client’s rights must be
vigilantly protected to protect the rights of us all.

Make no mistake about it, each time a prosecution is conducted, the rights of all of us are
on trial, and
we “the people” are entitled to a zealous representation to protect those
rights by an experienced, successful, passionate, driven and dedicated advocate.
 I am
proud to be one of these zealous advocates, and I am blessed and humbled to have this
important responsibility.
